With Rasta And Buttons

And an archangel. At least that is what the color used in my new cowl is called. One can hear angels singing when wearing Malabrigos rasta yarn. Wish I could say the same when paying for it....

Anyway - this is some yarn from my stash. I did plan this cowl some time ago but never got started.

That is really strange - it only took a few hours to knit it. I had this problem finding the perfect buttons.

I am specific about what I want - or should I say - what I do not want. When I came over these huge ones on Etsy it was love at first sight.

Out with the yarn, the needles and the pattern. And do I love this? YES!!! Looking at the skeins I thought it looked rather boring. But the colors are so lovely when knitted into this. I can not believe it.

I added extra stitches (from 19st to 27st) to get a 30cm wide cowl. And placed the buttons different from the pattern. Often cowls are nice to look at but not warming the neck. When placing the buttons like that, it keeps me warm and I can show off those dinner plates buttons..

The Stitch Story
Yarn: Malabrigo Rasta, Archangel color
Needles: 10mm
Other materials: 72mm x 76mm wooden buttons found here
Pattern: Rasta Neckwarmer
My Ravelry Page: Angel Cowl
Huge buttons makes a statement. The small one is a regular size (2mm) just to show the difference.

  7. Wauv ,de knapper er jo helt perfekte til det garn, men tænker nu også de kunne være fede på en strikket pude-de må tjekkes nærmere ud :))

  10. Hi!
I would like to ask you about one of your older post: http://flowermouse.blogspot.fi/2010/03/my-knitted-cat.html

I really fell in love with that cat pattern, but I can't found it anywhere :S I check it out in google and in my nearest library (I'm from Finland), etc.. but they didn't have that Rauma desing - magazines. (But we do have a place called Rauma, so that's what google offered to me.) Do you still have that pattern of those cats? Could you send me a picture of that (kisaho (a) utu.fi) or can you help me find that pattern (website, or something)?

    Really appreciate your answer!

  15. That is so gorgeous. Well done on the buttons, really sets it off. It looks big and warm, how many skeins did that take? You really do have some great creations.

    1. Thank you so much Lillian!!! I did use about 1.5 skeins for this. It could do with only one - but you will get a shorter cowl.
