Woolly In The Wind

Not easy photographing in this ice cold wind we are having. But as long as I can not find anything else to complain about I think I am fine.

Anyway, this is about the new scarf all knitted in the round from a mittens pattern and with Kauni effektgarn. The genius thing about this yarn is that there are no color changes other than the ones given by the yarn.

I knitted one end as the decreases for the mittens.

I should of course have done that with the other  - but I often start knitting and things are made as I go. Or knit...

The long color changes makes it perfect for stranded knitting. One skein used as background color and one for the pattern color.

They both change colors all the time - and thats what gives all the color changes. Color knitting for the lazy - or should I say the crazy?

After all knitted with 2mm needles and for as long as 2.4m - it is more crazy than lazy.

I like the outcome. But I am really not sure if it is colorful enough for my taste. Kauni is extremely photogenic and looks more bright and colorful in photos than in real life.

I am not happy about that the orange and green takes up so much of the scarf.

And especially in both ends and in front of my face. But it was a fun knit and a great example for the lecture I gave about knitting with colors.

The Stitch Story

  8. I like the way you wrapped the scarf around your neck--very stylish! I, too, first thought of an arrow with the shape. Very pretty!
