Getting Hot In Here

Yes, this is my newly finished project. And this is me having some fun taking photos of it. I have no plans on going in hiding or robbing a bank.

This odd garment it simply unexplainable. It is a shawl, a scarf and something between an oversized poncho and a sleeping bag. I think I may be able to use it as a tent too....

Well anyway, the design is quite fun and simply easy to knit. Although I had to get help understanding the pattern.

It was not good explained. But when I got it - it got really fun to knit this. At first you knit a rectangle in garter stitch.

Then you join to knit in the round increasing and decreasing all the way ending with a lace part.

I tend to knit large garments and this is no exception. It is huge - and I had 524 stitches on my needle before starting the lace part.

It is my first time using the danish Holst supersoft yarn and I love it. But it bleeds a lot and may be a bad idea for color work.

I miss a thin wool yarn like this for sale i Norway. For garments such as Viajante it would be nice to have a thinner yarn to go to.

Such a lovely light wool yarn and the price is low. I used nearly seven skeins for this wacky and wolly shawl thingie.

This is nice to use when you get cold on a trip or in a movie theatre. Or to use for a party over a nice dress. The use for it is endless. I have already started a new one.

With Gifts And Tags

Back from the best holiday ever - it is time to get some knitting done.

These baby hats is finally finished. They should have been that in the spring - but better late than never... It only took some hours to knit them.

And I really loved the faux cables on them. A traditional pattern made in a new way. I think they may be a little too big, but winter is long here so I hope they will come to use.

Small tags makes a little extra impression on a gift.
The pattern is from the book Babystrik på pinde 3 from the danish knit designer Lene Holme Samsøe.

She is so skilled and creative and finally her knitting design is a part of what norwegian yarn stores offer. We really really need new designs - not just old designs all over again.

There is a little difference between the yarns - but the size difference comes from my uneven knitting.

I knit tight when I start a new project. The blue was the first and therefor it is smaller than the pink one.

I have woven labels I normally sew on gifts. But I was afraid that they will scratch the babys head.

So I found some really nice tags in this shop and I think they will do. I always add some extra yarn and the wash label in a small plastic bag.

Hope you all had a lovely summer. Sorry that I have not had the time to visit your blogs. I will now - please know that I have not forgotten you!!

Shawl Of Hearts

My very first lace project is finished. I cannot describe how happy I am having done this. And the outcome is overwhelming to me. Before blocking it looked ok.

But after blocking - well, it is a mystery what some blocking wires, pins and hours of crawling around the floor can do.

I must admit I had to redo the blocking. It was not that easy being first time and all.

My knitting friends helped me - and I am so thankful to them.

I actually could not have done this without them. Advice, cheering and help all the way.

Knitting after chart was essential. I could never have knitted this if I should read line after line with instructions.

It was a bit terrifying at first - but after a couple of rounds it was perfect. Especially when I knitted something wrong...

The only thing that was difficult was to find out about the size as it is knitted from the top and down.

I had 560st on my needle before binding off. It is huge - but it is going to be fantastic wearing during winter. Just wrapping myself in a lot of hearts and a rainbow.

When you have a rainbow deep down in your heart, your smile will shine bright. You know you are a part of that colorful, magical feeling you´ll find, when you have a rainbow inside.
