Got My Mittens Out

Easter is my favorite time of year. Eggs, chocolate, flowers and that wonderful feeling that spring is on its way just makes me happy.

As for knitting, I was not going to join the easter competition for knitting mittens. But this thought about mittens just ignored me so much that I had to start my favorite pattern from the collection Mittens from the fairy forest.

And with my oversized stash I easily found the colors I needed. I did not want two colores stranded mittens. I have some of them.

I planned on knitting with a magic ball - but gave it up. Winding is simply boring. I wanted the motif to change colors. They are after all fairytale flowers - and I see them clearly colored in my head.

I just changed colors as I pleased with spit splicing every color shift. That left only a few ends to weave in.

I am very pleased with how the colors came out in the pattern. Although I must say that the mittens came out too big.

I should have read other comments on them on Ravelry - they are big. So this is my only regret: I should have knitted them with 1.75mm needles instead of 2.5mm as I normally use for mittens.

I really love the pattern that goes all over the mittens. You cannot see the start of the rows and no stripe on the sides of the hand. Excellent way to knit stranded mittens. Looks soo good too.

Anyway - I felted them some in the washer. That of course leaves the mittens different from what I hoped for. But still, they fit now and are warmer. And the colors still makes me smile.

I am entering them in the contest - no matter how it goes I am very happy that I got the inspiration to knit mittens. Hand knitted mittens are simply wonderful to wear.

Enthusiasm is excitement with inspiration, motivation and a pinch of creativity

  3. De var jammen fine. Skikkelige LONE- farger.

    1. Tusen takk Sylvia!!! Ja trådfeste er ikke gøy når det blir mye. Spyttspleising er den beste teknikken jeg noengang har lært :-)
