Look: A Scarf Falling From Heaven

I recently had a big clean out in my closet full of knitted scarves and shawls. And it made me think: Where did they come from? And when did I knit these?

Some of them are now going to be sold before christmas by Salvation Army.

The ones that are not sold will be given to people as gifts at christmas.

I love that my knitting can keep other people warm. I should have done this a long time ago.

And what are we doing holding on to so many things? We should give more.

Anyway, this is about some recent knitting. Another assymetric scarf in bright colors.

I love the combination of the colors. It makes them all shine and has a fresh look. A fairly easy-peasy knit.

I increase one stitch on every other row and then start decreasing every 4th row. I increase on one side and change colors on the other.

That way the edges looks so much better. And I have spit spliced every color shift. A little more work and so worth it.

I am really happy about this scarf - especially because the colors are so great together.

Soft Mathematical Error

Autum is just lovely in sunshine, crispy air and with a new shawl. Sometimes I wish I was a mathematical wonder who could spent some time calculating sizes on things. But, I just knit and find out afterwards that I miscalculated again.

This shawl is assymetric and I wanted this look with the colors and stripes. I really love this color combination. And the shawl is huge...

It is a very easy and mindless knit in garter stitch. I increase one stitch every other row on the first part and decrease 1 stitch every 4th row on the other. Hence the asymmetry.

I used Rauma Finull together with mohair yarn. I must say, a match made in heaven.

I just love that soft feel with the warmth it gives through autumn and winter.

I am in constant outlook for mohair in the colors I like so I end up with various brands to get the right color.

This time I used BC Garn Kid Mohair in bright turquoise and Mayflower Kid Silk in red.

I used Rauma Plum for the orange. I must say, the BC Garn Kid Mohair is the best mohair yarn I have ever used. I love it - and now it is discontinued. Too bad.

Well, I am very happy with my new shawl. However, asymetric shawls does not drape so well or as easily as I want it to. I may think again: Maybe I should knit another in the ordinary way with both sides of the shawl beeing the same length? A very big question - for a knitter...

Sparkling Or Not

Felted bracelets with sparkling beads.
Glass beads and svarowski beads are something to make wool sparkle. These bracelets are so easy and quick to knit that I could easily get too many of them.

I have used stash yarn, Finull, held double. I cast on 8 stitches and knit stockinette stitch for 23cm. Sew the ends together and felt them in the washer. I let them dry on a glass bottle to form them after washing. That makes them totally round and keeping their shape.

I found some glass beads and sequins and simply sew it on. Very sparkling and actually nice. I like them a lot and they keep my wrists warm as well.

Owls in ceramics for stitch markers.
I can not knit a lot these days. Right now nothing, to be honest. Simply depressing to not create in my favorite way. Life is hard - ask anyone who have tried... LOL!

Anyway, I manage to make stitch markers and those are so much fun. Only problem is that there are a lot of them now. I sold some before christmas and hope to get rid of more. But as you know, shipping costs are extremely high. So I keep it where I live - I should move to a larger place...
