Lightening Up Some Knitting

A rainbow, some white stripes symbolising light beams and a warm embrace. That is the short version of the scarf that has been given as a gift. I just felt the calling to knit this in Kauni rainbow yarn and white stripes, and give it to a very special person.

I used my design Lifelines for it. I actually enjoyed knitting it. Easy and still the colors are changing and I love that.

Nothing more to say about that other than:

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around

Occasinally Orange

A bit of luck that this cowl match my new sweater.
A good thing cannot be repeatet to often. At least if it is about eating chocolate and knitting a really comfy sweater. In order to get my diet on the track I chose the fiber this time...

The woollen fiber that is. It all started with my green Kermit sweater. I needed another one in a more suitable color for me. Not that green is far out, but a better one.

This time I ended up with the color teal (there are no word for the color in norwegian - most people will call it petrol, which it is not).

Teal is called an universial color - it is suppose to fit most persons. You should try it out and see how amazing it is that teal makes so many people looking good.

This scarf was knitted to go with the sweater.
Anyway, this is knitted in Pt2 from Rauma. Allthough a lot of knitters claim that this yarn is similar to Finull - it is not.

Well, you can knit them together without a lot of difference in your garment. But Pt2 is a bit looser spun and is a little thinner.

That actually came even more to my attention when I knitted my sweater. It came out smaller than my previous.

But, I am so pleased with it. I think it is kind of boring just knitting something i one color.

So I added a few orange stripes to it by spit splicing orange yarn. Very useful technique and it makes a statement without getting too loud.

I have made a lot of moderations to fit for the yarn I have used - they are all listed up on my project page on Ravelry.

So here I am with my second sweater this year. And guess what? I am soon finished with a really red one as well. That - I am looking so much forward to. Stay tuned...

A little too bright photo so the colors do not come out good. But you get the picture, right... LOL!!

Is Green Only For Frogs?

New green sweater. You can see more of the scarf here.
I have a secret love from my childhood: Kermit. Although I never got a chance of meeting him he was my sweetheart for years. So why not assosiate my new green sweater with Kermit?

Enough of that walk down memory lane of childhood. And into knitting. When I saw the pattern for this sweater on Ravelry I decided that I was going to knit it.

I have a hard time doing knitting mathematics. In fact, I avoid it all costs.

I think it is because I have no idea what to do when I change gauge and yarn for a project and have to decrease and a lot of other stuff.

But, I am so lucky to have a friend that is a mathematic goddess. She did the math for me. And I am truly thankful to her for that.

So I found my green stashed yarn and gave the sweater a try. If it did not turn out as I wanted, I could just use it on cold days under a jacket.

I used several green colors. To not get a too visible transition between them I altered them by knitting one row of each color for some rows to sort of glue them together. I think it worked just fine.

And as it turned out - the sweater became my favorite. Such a wonderful design. Big enough to not be tight and tight enough to not be big. Get it?? LOL!

I have already knitted another one and has started a bright red one too. Finally a sweater that fit, is warm, not too warm and that I really enjoy wearing. How many colors should I knit? Those who wait will see....

With good friends you can´t loose

Double Knitting

No, this is not me learning a new technique. It is about a friend having twins - and me knitting a babydress for both of them. And of course some hats to go with them.

Now, gift knitting is lovely. There is something wonderful about the time one give away - and I only knit gifts for those who appreciate it. And these baby sets were so much appreciated.

When the twins were born I knitted two hats in all pink and blue to give when they were at hospital.

Obviously they are for a boy and a girl. I chose gray for main color in the dresses and pink and blue to differ them from each other.

They are knitted in the best baby wool I have ever used: Rauma Panda.

No pilling while knitting, and it is so good to knit with. No splitting - so this is my new goto baby yarn.

Buttons are always a challenge. I wanted similar buttons and in blue and pink for the dresses.

I went into every store I could find. But noone had buttons alike in blue and pink. But I found some on Etsy that were just perfect - what would a knitter do without internet????

I knitted the smallest dress sizes but with longer sleeves and legs. They will fit by autumn - and that was just fine. Congratulations on the twins!!!

Look What My Mittens Won

The yarn I won is called Dandelion yarn and is from Sweden.
My mittens are some lucky ones. They won The Color Delight Price in the easter competition I entered them in.

They were not the winner of the best easter mittens. But my mittens won the best price they could ever win.

To win a color price is even better to me - and the yarn that came in the mail from Germany, where one of the jury members Frida live, IS AMAZING.

The colors simply shines from the yarn. Complementary colors and all.

I believe my color choice has been spotted. I am thinking green apples and tomatoes.

The yarn is called Dandelion Yarn and is an organic yarn from Sweden. Soft merino and it is hand painted.

Never heard of it before and I really enjoyed receiving it. Just love it!!! Now what am I going to make in this?

That is the question. It has to be something special to show off those colors.

Thank you to Vottelauget for their extra price and for the inspiration to get on with mittens knitting.

I love those mittens and enjoyed every second knitting them.

In a ball of yarn is the potential to make to make a dream that you have come true
